Thistledown Cottage is tucked in among the beautiful Acworth
Hills of New Hampshire. Having grown up in this small,
rural town, I feel blessed by the magical, old-fashioned charm
that has been part of my daily life.
Our horse facilities are small, but hold an enchanted history.
I built my barn with the loving assistance of my father and some
friends. We sawed the lumber from trees cut from my
Father's land and a friend, Clarence Russell's farm, using my
Dad's sawmill facilities. Each plank tells it's own story
of love, good neighbors and friends.
While I began my equestrian experience with Morgan horses, I
instantly fell in love with the Gypsy Horse at the Equine
Affaire in 2002. It wasn't long before I began my search
for a Gypsy of my own. I've always loved a horse with a
flaxen mane, and when I saw Shantaigh, I knew I had to
have him. He has exceeded every expectation as a friend
and companion and is the love of my life. Shantaigh
is a true golden palomino....an exceedingly rare gold coin found
among the dark pieces of onyx and platinum of the typical gypsy
horse.
To compliment him, and take Gypsy breeding in the United States
on an exciting, yet unexplored level, Thistledown Cottage has
purchased the filly
Strawberry to be his eventual mate.
Shantaigh will also stand to the public in the U.S. for
the first time in 2004. His breeding contract may be
downloaded
here.
Please contact us for more information on the introduction of
the dilute colors to the American Gypsy bred horse, and any
questions you may have.
