We are
proud to introduce Thistledown Mocha. Mocha came to us at the
end of October, 2007 from Colorado. After being on the trailer
for 45 hours, she hopped off the trailer to a welcoming chorus
of whinnies from all of the other Gypsies; walked into her stall
and started eating hay and drinking water. She knew she was
home. And she’s fit right in here.
Mocha
is a lovely silver dapple (also called a chocolate palamino)
filly born in April of 2006. She is sired by the beautiful
chocolate palamino, The Boss, and is out of Goldilocks. She has
a sweet, expressive face as well as a thick, curly, double mane
and lots of feathers. Already her tail nearly touches the
floor. And . . . she has the cutest moustache you’ve ever
seen!! She has a really nice trot, too.
Mocha
has a lovely spirit and that Gypsy sweetness that’s so
endearing. She loves hugs and kisses and any kind of attention
she can get . . . whether it’s just a scratch behind her ears or
a full grooming session or going outside to work with me in the
round pen. She is very aware of everything going on in the barn
and learns new things very quickly. She loves to please and she
loves to play. Mocha has that unflappable personality that’s
just one of the reasons we love this breed so much.
In
November, Mocha traveled to Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA
with Strawberry and Shantaigh. Again, she enjoyed the attention
she got from everyone passing by her stall. We found her to be
a wonderful traveler.
Our
plan for Mocha includes breeding her to Shantaigh in 2009. She
has already had the surcingle and saddle on . . . neither seem
to bother her in the least. We’ll continue her training over
the spring and summer and hope to include her in our outings to
parades, Equine Affaire, etc throughout the year. Please check
out her pictures which we will update as we watch her mature
into the lovely mare we know she’ll be.
